Dynamic Buffer Sizing Algorithms for 802.11 Wireless Networks

802.11is a set of standards for implementingwireless local area network(WLAN) computer communication in the 2.4,3.6and 5GHz frequency bands. They are created and maintained by theIEEELAN/MANStandards Committee (IEEE 802). Buffers play a key role in 802. 11/802.11e wireless networks. B uffers are used to accommodateshort-term packet bursts so as to mitigate packet dropsand to maintain high link efficiency. Packets are queued ift oo many packets arrive in a sufficiently short interval of timeduring which a network device lacks the capacit y to processall of them immediately. The use of fixed size buffers in 802.11 networks inevitably leads toeither undesirable channel under-utilization or unnecessary highdelays. In this paper our objectiveis to maintain high network utilization while providing lowqueuingdelays in 802.11 wireless networks t hrough dynamic buffer sizing algorithm
