Mobile Ad hoc Networks do not consist of fixed infrastructure for transmitting and receiving information. This is a temporary network which can be setup anywhere at any time due to its simple infrastructure. No base station is required in this type of network. The nodes are connected with each other through a wireless link and a node can serve as a router to forward the data to the neighbor nodes. Whenever a node leaves a network, then new links and new routes are to be established. Security has become a primary concern in order to provide protected communication between mobile nodes in a hostile environment. The main objective of this work is to enhance the performance of the network by securing the data, and by reducing the memory. Securing data is a critical task which can be achieved by cryptographic algorithms. Also, memory requirement is the important aspect for MANETS and it can be efficiently utilize using compression algorithms. In this, a novel technique is proposed in which data can be secured and compressed. The proposed algorithm was implemented and simulated in the Glomosim and proved that the performance of the network is enhanced.
