Waterretentioncurve(WRC)isanonlinearfunctionthatdescribestherelationshipbetweenthematricsuction(#968;)andwatercontent(#952;)ofaporousmaterialevaluatedunderunsaturatedconditions.WRCcontainsfundamentalinformationabouthydro#45;mechanicalbehaviorofunsaturatedporousmaterialsofdifferentcomposition.Inthiscontext,thispaperpresentsthelaboratoryresultsandproceduresusedtodeterminetheWRCofasoil#45;cementcompositematerialusedinroadpavementconstruction.Withthispurpose,watercontentandmatricsuctionmeasurementsinasoil#45;cementcompositewith3.5%ofPortlandcementbyusingpressurecellsweredeveloped.FittingvaluesoftheWRCwerecalculatedaccordingtothetheoreticalfour#45;parametervanGenuchtenmodel.Hence,thebestfitparametersofthevanGenuchtenwaterretentioncurvewereestimatedusinganonlinearfittingapproachbasedinminimizingthesumofsquared#45;errorinnonlinearfunctions.ResultsshowthatthewaterretentioncurveanditsparametersaccordingtothevanGenuchtenmodeldeterminedinthisstudycanbeusedasreferencevaluesoftheunsaturatedparametersofsoil#45;cementcompositematerialusedinroadpavementconstruction.Moreover,soil#45;cementwaterretentioncurveshowninthisstudycorrespondstooneofthefirstresultspublishedintheliteratureonthiscompositematerial./font
