The progress, application, contribution and challenges of geomagnetic navigation technology are reviewed and analyzed. This paper introduces the principle and steps of geomagnetic navigation system, then compared with a variety of navigation technology to get the advantages and disadvantages of geomagnetic navigation; Summary of major contribution of geomagnetic navigation technology in the field of navigation and positioning; Finally briefly examine the important applications and the major challenges of geomagnetic navigation technology.
