In this study, the polyanilinea€“magnetite (PA@Fe3O4) hollow nanocomposite was synthesized by a chemical polymerization technique, and magnetite nanoparticles were deposited on the polyaniline hollow shell. The synthesized PA@Fe3O4 was successfully prepared and immobilized on a stainless steel wire and used as a novel fiber coating for headspace solid-phase microextraction. The fiber was evaluated for the extraction of benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylenes (BTEX) from water samples. The analytical merits of the method under optimum conditions (extraction temperature: 50 ?°C, extraction time: 12 min, desorption temperature: 250 ?°C, desorption time: 1 min, salt concentration: 0.5 g mLa?’1) are 0.58a€“2.9 ng La?’1 and 0.01a€“500 ??g La?’1 for LOD and LDR, respectively. Under optimum conditions, the repeatability for one fiber (n = 3), expressed as the relative standard deviation (RSD%), was between 4.1% and 7.5% for the BTEX.
