In the late afternoon, when fidgety dairycows start milling around, they stir up aheavy layer of dust that hangs over the yard.This airborne dust does more than signalpotential rowdiness among the livestock. Itcontains bacteria, viruses, fungi, and smallbacterial remnants called “endotoxins,”which can be dispersed through the airbeyond the facilities to the surroundinglandscape.
