The development and construction of a cloud reservation service system for a western-style restaurant chain

Cloud services have long been a part of our lives and their range of application is continually expanding. As society has progressed, the demand for computing resources has also increased. Companies face a growing need to update information software and hardware. To facilitate effective management, conserve space, and limit the cost of updating software and hardware, cloud services, which effectively enhance computing functions, have gradually become the solution for businesses. For the restaurant chain used as a case study in this research, each branch had previously independently handled the reservations made at their venues, without any exchange of customer information among branches. Therefore, if the branch did not have an available table for a customer attempting to make a reservation, the customer’s business was lost. This study improved the reservation system for this restaurant chain by constructing a cloud reservation system that integrates the reservation information of each branch. This, in essence, makes each restaurant branch a resource for other branches, because should a customer attempting to make a reservation find one branch has no available tables, he/she can speedily receive information on available tables at other branches. This not only saves inquiry time for the customer but also enhances the quality of service provided by the restaurant and increases its business, facilitating its development into a service-oriented e-restaurant.
