Automated collection and dissemination of ionospheric data from the digisonde network

The growing demand for fast access to accurateionospheric electron density profiles and ionospheric characteristicscalls for efficient dissemination of data from themany ionosondes operating around the globe. The globaldigisonde network with over 70 stations takes advantage ofthe Internet to make many of these sounders remotely accessiblefor data transfer and control. Key elements of thedigisonde system data management are the visualization andediting tool SAO Explorer, the digital ionogram databaseDIDBase, holding raw and derived digisonde data under anindustrial-strength database management system, and the automateddata request execution system ADRES.
