摘要

I can only hypothesise as to the motivations that authors may have when they submit theirwork to this journal. Some may be genuinely curious and seek answers to questions theyhave, while others may also, or instead be motivated to climb the academic career ladder.Overall however, I would suggest that most of them want to conduct research that is meaningful and makes an impact to stakeholders, systems or services. In the field of mentalhealth, research is the most efficient way of ascertaining whether and how a particular intervention or mental health initiative works (or does not work) and why. Accordingly, researchmay have a direct and often immediate impact on end users, namely those with lived experiences, their families, funders, mental health practitioners, service providers and policy makers.
