Classification of Knowledge Supporting Infrastructure

Knowledge economy underlines requirement for growth, based on the ability to produce, disseminate and exploit new knowledge. The key aspects of knowledge economy are science and research, human capital and innovative business. This means that knowledge economy is associated with infrastructure of higher education providing skilled, educated and creative researchers, which results in innovation; and capital for converting innovative ideas into assets. To meet the demands of knowledge economy it is necessary to create support tools and processes, so-called knowledge-based supporting infrastructure. It is a part of methodological framework for exploring knowledge processes in knowledge economies. It consists of institutions, which fill specific roles in the process of knowledge creation, its transfer, including support for creation and transfer of knowledge, its preservation and intellectual property. Categorization and definition of roles and missions of knowledge-based supporting infrastructure institutions serve for finding ways which support their creation and use in order to increase innovation potential of companies
