摘要

The current world demographic situation is extremely diversified according to geographical regions. Permanently observed and reported are high birth rates in developing countries and low birth rates in industrially developed countries. These two phenomena are reflected in the relatively high migration between these countries and cause consequently a broad range of political, social and economic problems. Neither political scene nor the civic society in these countries are ready to cope with these problems. The most visible and most frequent reaction to the problem (on the side of the developed countries) is strengthening their migration policies in order to block the migration inflows. These policies are often supported not only by the right wing parties but they are also greeted by the majority of population of developed countries. Qualified demographic arguments about the substance of the problem are rarely used. The purpose of this paper is to present some key statistical facts in order to support the public and fair discussion and to enhance public awareness of the current demographic situation and its possible future scenarios. The below presented facts could enhance the urgently needed further discussion on this topic.
