In Colombia 80% of the farmers are smallholders and have only 20% of the land, while corporate agriculture occupies 80% of cultivated areas, which belong to 20% of owners; however are small farmers who sustain the food security of the population. According to historical references, peasant economy models have managed to stay in front of the fall of different economic models in the world; despite his involvement in the transition to a global economy and the impact of climate change; due to the lack of scientific and technological strategies that will bring them to be competitive and also to contain the effects of climate change.
