Contributions on the endemic flora of Taltal and Paposo, Región de Antofagasta (II), Chile.

The coast of the Region II (Antofagasta) and Region III (Atacama) is characterized by the insular character of itsvegetation and from an ecological point of view it is similar to the Peruvian “lomas” formations. The considerablespecies diversity has been known since the time of R. Philippi (1860 ) and I. M. Johnston (1929)? however, there is aneed to improve our knowledge of these rare species which have little protection or conservation attention. In thiswork we present information on 40 species of vascular endemic plants from the coastal strip from of the stripe ofseaboard that goes from Tocopilla to Cha?aral, and with an emphasis on those that are confined to Miguel Díaz tothe north of Paposo and Taltal localities. For each species a sheet is produced with a photographic illustrationcontaining morphological descriptions, information on chronology and iconography.
