La incidencia de enfermedad valvular en mujeres en edad frtil es muy frecuente en nuestro medio. El manejo de estas patologas en la mujer embarazada va ms all del alcance del gineco-obstetra y el manejo de estas pacientes por personal inexperto puede tener consecuencias funestas para la madre y el feto. A continuacin se presenta una revisin detallada de este problema, haciendo nfasis en el manejo y control de la anticoagulacin en las maternas con enfermedad valvular y/o prtesis mecnicas. ABSTRACT There is a high frequency of valvular heart disease in child~bearing women in our community. The treatment of these pathologies in pregnancy goes beyond the scope of obstetrical specialists. The treatment of these patients carried out by inexperienced personnel can nave devastating consequences on both mother and child.
