A case report of tardive dyskinesia and tremor due to use of aripiprazole

Aripiprazole is an atypical antipsychotic with lower frequency rates of extrapyramidal side effects and tardive dyskinesia (TD). On the other hand TD cases related to the use of aripiprazole have increasingly been reported recently. In the present case we report a female 63-year old single patient with schizophrenia who has irregularly used antipsychotics for the past 15 years and has been on aripiprazole regularly over the last year. Clinical presentation and follow up of the tremor and TD in the patient are reported and the importance of consideration of side effects of antipsychotics is discussed.
