From Chance to Choice is the collaborative product of four internationally recog- nized American bioethiasts. It provides an ethical analysis of "the new genetics"from the perspective of liberal theory. The ambitious scope of this book rangesover a wide variety of important ethical issues that deal with the anticipatedpower of genetics to alter future individuals. The book moves systematicallythrough many of the difficult ethical questions posed by emerging geneticknowledge and technologies. Sometimes, however, the book moves too quicklythrough contentious issues and requires careful reading to fully discern some ofthe authors' core positions and the implications they carry.
