The study, "The Bibliographic Control of Supplements to Medical Periodicals," by H. Bloomquist, T. P. Fleming and J. B. Balkemal is a fine example of the use of systematic research to answer questions of policy and to evaluate practices which may have become outmoded. While the conclusions are well supported by evidence, however, there are some problems which may be usefully raised.
