Cannibalisminancientfishesisaninterestingpaleobiologicalfactwhichhasrarelybeenidentifiedinthefossilrecord.Onesuchcaseisdescribedhere.ThespecimenofapartlypreservedTrichiuridaefish,Anenchelumglarisianum,containstheremainsofpreyinsidethebodycavity.Twotypesofpreycanbeidentified,oneofwhichisA.glarisianum.Theheadsofthepreyareorientedposteriorlyinsidethebodycavity.OnthebasisofanalogywithrecentpopulationsoftrichiuridfishfromTaiwan,cannibalismmostlikelyresultedfromapaleoecologicimbalanceinthepopulationofA.glarisianuminLiten??ice.OtherknowndataonthefeedinghabitsoffossilTrichiuridaearementioned.
