Research on stress responses is incredibly diverse, fast moving and eminently fundable, with many new technologies and approaches being employed. The meeting focused on the cross-disciplinary nature of this exciting field, and specifically set out to promote greater collaboration and networking within the life sciences. This was achieved by bringing together a premier list of international speakers with a diverse community of postdoctoral and postgraduate researchers keen to broaden their horizons. More than 100 delegates attended, representing more than 20 countries. The meeting paid particular attention to younger researchers, by giving all poster presenters a 1-minute poster pitch. This was a great success, and ensured that all participants had the experience of speaking to a conference audience.
