Electric bike makes Isle of Man debut

Kingston University's revolutionary electric motorbike is shown here under test in the run-up to the Isle of Man 'Relentless Ramsay Sprint1 drag racing event last June. A team of six final-year engineering students entered their bike, known as the Firstest, in the first zero-emissions Grand Prix, part of the Isle of Man TTXGR Motorcycle engineering students Dean Goldsmith, Alex Jones-Dellaportas, Gonzalo Carrasco, Michael Payne, Sean Whittaker and Drew Corbin, built the bike as part of their university course. It is powered by a custom-built, 72V battery and is 90% efficient (compared with a conventional petrol or diesel powered bike, which is only around 30% efficient).
