Talent Talk: Jobs Data, and Why We ll Be Paying Special Attention on March 17

At the end of 2018 and through the first part of 2019, I was very concerned because the number of job openings in theUnited States had zoomed past 7.5 million, per the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). For most of the previous years, thisnumber had fluctuated in the 5 million to 6.5 million range. My concern a year ago stemmed from two things: The rapid risein job openings and the fact that the number of job openings was greater than the total number of unemployed in thecountry by close to a million people!
