The November 29, 2006, "Message to the American Nation" from Iranian Pres. Mahmoud Ahmadi-Nejad was the most sophisticated psychological strategy initiative yet undertaken into the West by the Iranian clerical Government — following a series of other sophisticated initiatives to influence the US mid-term elections earlier in November 2006, and to break UK policy on Iran away from linkage with Washington — and reflects the almost messianic belief among the ruling clerics that they have already defeated the US and the West in the battle for dominance over the Middle East.
