Incoming united kingdom Prime Minister Gordon Brown may elect to face the British voters sooner, rather than toward the end of the current Government's tenure (which could run until May 2010), in order to gain his own mandate for change. The Prime Minister appeared as of the end of July 2007 ready to capitalize on his favorable ratings — his honeymoon period after taking office without elections from retiring Prime Minister Tony Blair-and before any return to the malaise which had settled on the ruling Labour Party.
