THE BALANCE OF POWER IN THE INDO-PACIFIC IS NOT A TWO-HORSE RACE. This is increasingly the case. It is not even a three-horse or four-horse race. It is becoming increasingly nuanced and sophisticated. Competition between the two dominant powers, the People's Republic of China (PRC) and the United States remain anchors, but the capabilities and growing evolution of military, economic, and socio-political powers of other regional states are taking an increasing proportion of the equation. Japan, India, and Russia - despite being engaged in bilateral or multilateral Woes - are obvious and strengthening factors, and they each have differing strengths and potentials.
