JORDAN'S KING ABDULLAH Ⅱ, FACING INCREASING pressures from several fronts - particularly from Turkey and Saudi Arabia -now sees that domestic resentments have been played as part of this matrix of threats. Indeed, domestic unpopularity of the King became a delicate issue for him when, following the US change of government in January 2021, former Queen Noor - King Hussein's last wife, and Queen of Jordan from June 15,1978, to February 7,1999 - began making calls to her friends in the new US Administration of Pres. Joe Biden. These were seen as either undermining the King's position, or (amounting to the same thing) supporting her very popular eldest son, Prince (and former Crown Prince) Hamzeh.
