Australia: Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turn-bull on, December 19, 2017, announced his much-anticipated Cabinet reshuffle, which was ostensibly built around the departure of Attorney-General George Brandis to take up the post of High Commissioner (Ambassador) to the United Kingdom, to replace former Foreign Minister Downer. Western Australian Member of Parliament and outgoing Social Services Minister Christian Porter was named as the new Attorney-General. As previously announced, the new portfolio of Minister for Home Affairs was confirmed as Peter Dutton, the outgoing Minister of Immigration. Michaelia Cash, already Employment Minister, was promoted to the new title of Minister for Jobs and Innovation, surrendering her portfolio as Minister for Women to Kelly O'Dwyer. Bridget McKenzie, who recently replaced Fiona Nash as the deputy leader of the National Party, and who just entered the parliament, was named as the new Minister for Sport, Rural Health and Regional Communications. Dan Tehan has also been promoted to the cabinet, taking over Mr Porter's previous position as Minister for Social Services. National Party leader Barnaby Joyce was moved from his Agriculture portfolio to become Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, while newly-promoted David Littleproud became Agriculture Minister. The previous Infrastructure minister, Darren Chester, was dropped from the cabinet.
