Army Holding Industry Day In March For New Autonomous Weapon Targeting Program

The Army said Tuesday it will hold an industry day in March for its new program to leverageartificial intelligence for future autonomous targeting capabilities on its weapons systems.Officials are also accepting white papers from industry to detail specific technologies to supportthe Advanced Targeting and Lethality Automated System (ATLAS) program.“The Army has a desire to leverage recent advances in computer vision and artificial intelligence[and] machine learning to develop autonomous target acquisition technology, that will beintegrated with fire control technology, aimed at providing ground combat vehicles with thecapability to acquire, identify, and engage targets at least 3x faster than the current manualprocess,” officials wrote in the industry day notice.
