DRS Laurel Technologies has been awarded an $8,645,760 firm-fixed-price modification to a previously awarded contract the company received in 2018 (N00024-18-C-5395). This modification exercises options for the production of the AN/SPQ-9B radar systems and associated equipment. The creation of these new systems will take place in Largo, Flordia, with an expected completion date of February 2024. The contract falls under Fiscal 2021 shipbuilding and conversion funds from the Navy and was contracted by the Naval Sea Systems Command. The AN/SPQ-9B provides Navy ships the ability to detect and track low-flying, high-speed, small Radar Cross Section anti-ship missile targets in high-stress environments. The system uses a high-resolution, track-while-scan, X-band, pulse-doppler radar to provide real-time acquisition and automatic tracking of multiple surface and air targets while maintaining surface detection, gunfire control, and navigational capabilities.
