At last our soldiers are being given the footwear that provides the solution for the desert combat environment.rnPart of this solution was to provide the choice of half sizes for everyone, and in two width fittings. Civilians, when purchasing footwear, will endeavour to achieve the best possible fit and comfort available, so why should a soldier, who is often required to wear his issue boots 24/7, expect any less?rnAn example of poor fitment is demonstrated with female service personnel, who have previously only had male footwear to choose from. Everyone is aware of the subtle differences between the male and female foot anatomy. The female soldiers are now guaranteed a choice of sizes 3-8 1/2 (female fitting), and in half sizes, complete with two width fittings to each half size.
