The end of 2009 saw some interesting developments in defence. Most notably perhaps were decisions that came on 15th December, when in the House of Commons, Secretary of State for Defence Bob Ainsworth announced a number of significant changes to defence spending.rnIn a wide ranging address, it was announced that there would be cutbacks in certain areas, partially in recognition of growing costs in defence and partially in order to allow for the acquisition of priority equipment in an enhancement package.
