Work recently got under way on an ￡18m jetty in Portsmouth Harbour. The new Upper Harbour Ammunitioning Facility (UHAF) will include two hydraulic cranes and mooring pontoons, and will accommodate ships weighing up to 10,000 tonnes, including the Royal Navy's new Type 45 destroyers.Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) Project Manager Paul Simmonds and HMNB Requirements Manager Graham Salmon provide insight into the facility ahead of its completion and operational use next year.
