A valuable addition

Within months of the trading fund's creation in 2008, the Defence Equipment & Support (DE&S) Land Equipment procurement and provisioning activities, consisting of 217 employees, transferred into the Defence Support Group (DSG). The decision to transfer the activities followed a robust investigation and full investment appraisal, which demonstrated the transfer was in the best economic interests of the MoD. The procurement and provisioning activities were complementary to the services DSG already provided and its addition expanded the group's capability of providing support throughout the supply chain.
