摘要

Hunting mines from large and dedicated mine countermea-sures vessels (MCMVs) was the predominant naval mine counter-measures (MCM) technique during the 1980s and 1990s. When introduced 20 to 30 years ago, most European navies believed that minehunting was the preferred solution for most mine threat scenarios, as reflected by the often-quoted mantra: 'Hunt where you can, sweep where you must' Many navies therefore abandoned or considerably downsized their minesweeping capability at the time. In recent years there has, however, been regained awareness by several European navies regarding the importance of minesweeping as a necessary complement to minehunting, and as a consequence, minesweeping is being reintroduced and modernisation programmes are in operation.
