The cyber security threat to industry was brought into sharp focus during 2011, which saw a number of high-profile incidents make the headlines, including an attack against defence giant Lockheed Martin on 21st May 2011. While major corporations are grasping the cyber security nettle, the sting remains hidden within the supply chain. Business vulnerability As set out in 'UK Cyber Security Strategy - Protecting and promoting the UK in a digital world', published by the Cabinet Office on 25th November 2011, '...some firms recognise the growing scale and impact of the risks. However, some sectors of the economy, particularly small and medium-sized businesses, do not have access to the skills and knowledge to protect themselves online.'
