In the last fifty years since independence of Pakistan, relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have been steadily growing. The interaction between the two countries is multi-faceted and defence relations are an important part of the equation. Defence relations between the two evolved slowly and were shaped by changing regional and international security scene. Specific security needs of both countries shaped these relations over the years. The ruling elite of the two countries have used these relations to fulfill security requirements of their countries. The Saudi external security scene changed over the years where initially the major threat was from Yemen and for a long time Saudi Arabia and Egypt fought a proxy war in Yemen.
