In July 2006, violent clashes between Israel and Hezbollah quickly escalated and became an international crisis. Widespread damage in Lebanon caused by Israeli air strikes caused an international uproar. Four weeks of violence resulted in loss of life on both sides and widespread damage to civilian infrastructure, especially in Lebanon. The recent conflict just adds another chapter in the catalogue of a half a century of violence in the region and,failure of contending parties to find a workable solution of their complex problems.
