In 1988 I visited America. My visit coincided with this vibrant nation caught in the euphoria of having won the (1979 - 1989) war in Afghanistan. They were rightly proud of their achievement and their radiant beaming faces said it all. Proud also were those who had worked hard with devotion and dedication to make all that happen, whether they were individuals toiling in the office, or those engaged in combat fighting the Soviets in the remote mountains of Afghanistan. Some of them were the honorable members of the Senate and the Congress who had resolutely lent their valuable support to the Afghan cause by propounding their case forcefully and explicitly on the floor of the House, or debating the same in the halls of the Senate and (or) the Congress.
