The name was derived from the squadron's motto olethrion omma ('death-dealing eye').rnThis ten-day tactical exercise comprised a series of increasingly demanding aviation combat and generic warfighting sorties, ranging from two-aircraft daylight patrols to full-squadron night attack operations with the unit operating from a tactical forward operating base (FOB).
