Just under 80% of members of the Kerry Co-op, from which the Kerry Group was built, backed the proposal at a special general meeting, providing a comfortable margin over the 75% needed. The rule change will allow the cooperative's shareholding in the pic to fall below 20%. The share sale it will bring will give each milk supplier farmer a cash windfall of around €25 000 (see DM, No 1108. 14.07.11,p10).
