As Dairy Crest completes the first phase of investment into its Davidstow cheese plant, Dairy Industries International looks at the plant's new wastewater treatment equipment. Dairy Crest s Davidstow plant in Cornwall UK is its most advanced cheese plant and has been given a massive ￡50 million (EUR 75 million) boost to make it one of the most up to date in Europe. In 2003 Dairy Crest decided that it was time to upgrade its existing wastewater treatment facilities at the plant to bring them in linewith the plant s increased capacity and meet the latest stringent river discharge laws. It awarded the project to Wehrle Environmental and work began in January 2004.
