There must be something about Shropshire in the UK that attracts those companies making yogurts. In less than two years, Austrian dairy Noem has built a greenfield dairy in Telford, a mere 20 miles away from UK yogurt manufacturer Muller's site, the largest manufacturer of yogurt in the UK. A good proportion of the employees are former Muller staff, a fact not lost on the owners.rnIn fact, Noem UK's managing director, David Potts, came back to yogurt in the nick of time. He was previously with Muller, then went on to be commercial director at Dairy Farmers of Britain. He left DFOB in late 2008, when he become MD of the newly-formed UK arm of Austrian dairy giant Nom Dairy.rnThe new facility has not yet developed a direct farmer supply, but former DFOB farmers have expressed interest, according to Ian McKenzie, marketing for Nom UK Ltd. "We've had a few DFOB farmers knocking on our door, saying, when you're ready!" he notes.
