Consumption of milk and dairy products has returned to growth in Taiwan, after a series of food adulteration scandals involving tainted cooking oil in 2014 and several disproved cases of milk adulteration, caused consumption of dairy to fall sharply. Although consumer confidence in milk and milk products was restored relatively quickly by government action, the issue of local food quality remains a regular topic in the media. On the other hand, public concern over food safety has lifted sales of some of Taiwan's dairy companies, which are benefiting from a long established reputation for quality products.
