Danone's new production facility in Cuijk, the Netherlands was built to produce specialised infant formula for babies with specific health needs and to protect and preserve the planet, the dairy giant says. The €240 million site is among the biggest production sites for Danone in Europe, and one of the largest investments by the firm in Europe in the last 10 years. It replaces an older, existing plant in Cuijk, which the company will gradually phase out. Products coming out of the plant will be exported to more than 90 countries, and it will employ close to 500 people once fully operational. An additional 2,500 jobs will be created indirectly. With the support of on the job training, the entire local workforce will transfer from the legacy plant in Cuijk to the newly-opened facility. At full capacity, Nutricia Cuijk will produce more than 600 different products, including the well-known Aptamil and Nutrilon brands, and feed more than 3.5 million babies daily with its products.
