Have you tried FT8 yet? Well, if you're hunting DX across the traditional SSB and CW band segments and notice that things are just a little quieter than usual, maybe it's because so many DXers have moved into the digital world of FT8 (see Figure 1). I'm not going to get too deep into the function of the mode here. But let's just sneak a peek at what's going on. FT8 is an excellent mode for HF DXing, especially for multi-hop sporadic-E propagation where signals may be weak and fading, openings may be short, and you want fast completion of reliable, confirmable QSOs.
