摘要

It was pleasing to note that the authors have put their modelling on a more rigorous foundation in response to my own modelling of the chemistry in cracks in high temperature water [1]. However, l was perturbed that the authors should deem my approach to analysis of the potential drop external to the crack to be incorrect. Whilst I am not immune to error, this seems a case of misunderstanding. To clarify, I set out below the specific steps adopted. These should be read in conjunction with the analytical description in Ref. [1], Appendix A in particular.
