The New Shareholder Activists: how can boards create more value? A review of the 9th International Conference on Corporate Governance and Board Leadership, Henley, October 2006

This international conference has two objectives: 1. to provide an international platform where leading thinkers and practitioners can present new developments in corporate governance and board leadership 2. to establish "a market-place in ideas" where directors, board advisors, academics and researchers can meet to exchange ideas and experience. In October 2006, the conference attracted 87 participants from 18 countries and over 90 per cent of them rated the meeting Excellent or Very Good for Enjoyment, Interest and Overall Satisfaction. 49 original papers were presented and some of the best are published in this special issue of the Journal. The theme of the conference was "The New Shareholder Activists: How Can Boards Create More Value?"
