As oil prices plummet to lows not seen in more than five years, efficiency and low cost have become hot topics in the U.S. oil and gas industry. To further drive home these important concepts, the 2014 Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADI-PEC), held in mid-November 2014, emphasized integrated information, control, power, and safety solutions in the oil and gas value chain. At the conference Rockwell Automation discussed production optimization to enhance business performance. As the price of oil falls, producers seek ways to reduce costs maximize revenue from resources. Digital oilfields are becoming more and more important to ensure the utmost efficiency in the production phase. Thony Brito, regional sales manager at vMonitor (now owned by Rockwell Automation), said, "We're enabling the digital oilfield by providing end-to-end digital oilfield solutions to the oil and gas industry. We ... design affordable, fully integrated systems that capture and send data from the remote asset site to the office, offering compatibility and seamless integration with third-party systems and customers' existing data infrastructures."
