New research from Drewry Maritime Research has concluded that the high cube 40ft container design is becoming the most popular equipment for intercontinental shipping, replacing the more traditional 40ft boxes. The company's recently published Container Census report found that by the end of 2013, just under 50 per cent of the maritime container fleet was 40ft high cube boxes. The total fleet of maritime 40ft high cube containers grew by over 7 per cent in 2013, a much faster pace than the global container fleet, where growth was limited to just 4.3 per cent.
