EFFICIENCY AND ENVIRONMENT: TOP PRIORITIES FOR COLUMBIA SHIPMANAGEMENT

Ever increasing maritime regulations, the pressure to ensure operations are as efficient as possible and to make cost savings, and a shortage of experienced crew have combined to boost the employment of technical shipmanagement companies by container shipping lines, Columbia Shipmanagement (CSM) marketing director Demetris Chrysostomou told Container Shipping & Trade in an interview. CSM currently manages 65 container ships ranging in size from 1,200 teu to 9,592 teu from out of its Cyprus, Germany and Singapore offices. The total volume under management by the Cyprus-headquartered business is 203,958 teu, and the aim is to boost this figure further. "Columbia is open to all shipmanagement business, from single shipowners to large operators, including banks, leasing companies, private equity investors and so on. This is reflected in the company's client portfolio," said Mr Chrysostomou.
