摘要

The authors describe a concurrent engineering approach to meet the highly competitive needs of today's consumer electronics industry by providing the capability of predicting, analyzing and making decisions on design, test, manufacturing, marketing and cost-related issues during the early phases of the product life cycle. The methodology of developing a high quality product by coordinating team efforts within a specific discipline and also among multiple disciplines such as electrical, mechanical, marketing, materials and manufacturing is presented. The design of a multi-function electronic display board is discussed. The general development process from concept to manufacture is outlined covering issues related to multiple disciplines and specifically focusing on the manufacturing issues.
